Account Opening

How to open a general account?

Go to our top page, and click register. You will be redirected to our account opening page, where you can input your personal details and upload your personal verification document. Once you click "Upload", your application is submitted. Please make sure you agree to the Terms & Conditions of using our service before you click "Upload". It will take 1-2 working days for your application to be processed. Once your application is accepted you will receive a email with your login and password.

What documents are required for personal verification?

We require you to submit two types of documents. An identity proof and an address proof:

(1) Identity Document

Following are accepted:
1.Passport
2.Goverment Issued ID

Please note that the:
-Personal identification document has to be valid
-Face is shown on ID
-Color scanned
-Date of birth is shown

(2) Address Proof Document

Following are accepted:
1.Utility Bill (Gas, Electricity, Phone Bill, etc)
2.Bank Statement
3.Tax Return

Please note:
-Issued within the last 3 months
-Same address as registered
-Full name is shown

Can I open multiple accounts?

No. We only accept one account per person.

Are there any requirements for opening an account?

The person has to be 18 years or older.

How can I open a corporate account?

Are there any fees to opening an account?

There are no fees to opening an account.

Where can I login?

Find the "login" button from the home page or click here.

What can I do if I cannot login?

Please confirm that the login ID and password entered are correct. Check if your cap lock is on. If you still unable to login, click "Forgot your Password" from the login page or click here. Enter your login ID, date of birth, new password, transaction PIN and then Click "Get No." for Verification code. A verification code will be sent to your registered email. Input the code found in your email in the "Reset login password" screen and click "Change". An email will be sent to your registered email confirming the change of password.

What can I do when my Account is locked?

To unlock, click "Forgot your Password" from the login page or click here. Enter your login ID, date of birth, new password, transaction PIN and then Click "Get No." for Verification code. A verification code will be sent to your registered email. Input the code found in your email in the "Reset login password" screen and click "Change". An email will be sent to your registered email confirming the change of password and your account is unlocked.

What is a Transaction PIN?

Transaction PIN is a 4 digit PIN code you have set upon opening an account with us. This PIN is used when placing orders, withdrawals, etc.

I have been locked out from the account for inputting wrong PIN. What should I do?

We lock accounts upon multiple incorrect transaction pin inputs.
To unlock, please send an email to support@bitpoint.hk from your registered email address.
In the subject of the email, type: Unlock Account.
And in the main paragraph of the email, type: your name, account number, registered address and your date of birth.
Upon confirming your identity, we will unlock the account.

How to change login password?

To change your login password, first login using your ID and password. Then click on "Account" on the top menu. Then under the dropdown menu you will see "Change Password". From this screen enter your current password, new password and click "Update".

How to change transaction PIN?

To change your transaction PIN, first login using your ID and password. Then click on "Account" on the top menu. Then under the dropdown menu you will see "Change Transaction PIN". From this screen enter your current PIN, new PIN and click "Update".

What do I do if I forgot my login password?

What do I do if I forget my transaction PIN?

If you forgot or lost your transaction PIN, please send an email to support@bitpoint.hk from your registered email address. In the subject of the email type: Forgot Pin. And in the main text type; your name, account number, registered address and your date of birth. Please also attach a scanned copy of your identity documents. Upon confirming your identity, we will send you an email with a temporary PIN. Please make sure you change the PIN after login.

How to enable 2-Step Verification?

To enable 2-Step Verification, please follow these steps:

1. Login to our trading site. Click on "User Settings" on the top right corner.
2. Under Common, navigate yourself to Two-Step Verify.
3. Select to be notified via email or Google Authenticator.
4. Click "Register" to complete the setup.

After setting, the two-step verify function will take effect from next time you log in.
Click "Get Verification Code" on the two-step verify login page that pop up when you log in to select the notification method (email or Google Authenticator) which is for receiving the verification code.

2-step verification was set when logging in. Can I cancel it?

Yes, you can.
You can enable 2-Step Verification for Login, Fiat Withdrawal, Digital Asset Withdrawal, and Changing Transaction PIN. However, you cannot disable 2-Step Verification for [Login] and [Fiat Withdrawal].
In the User Settings menu, you can de-select the box for [Login] and click the Register button to disable 2-Step Verification.

Digital Asset Service

What is Digital Assets?

Digital assets are new digital tokens run by the blockchain. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Ripple coin are examples of digital assets.

What is Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized digital asset and is a type of digital token that is created electronically over the internet. It is operated by computers around the world by solving mathematical problems. Bitcoin network is peer-to-peer, and transactions take place directly between users with no intermediary.

What is the difference with Fiat currencies like USD, HKD, JPY, RMB?

Bitcoin is a decentralized digital asset where there is no central authority controlling or running it. It is transacted peer-to-peer directly between users, with no intermediary.

Who controls the bitcoin?

Bitcoin is not controlled by anybody. Not a government, company or any person. Bitcoin uses the blockchain to establish a network over the internet. The transaction ledger is distributed around the world in multiple servers or nodes to mitigate any potential risks of falsifying data through hacks.

The ledger is open to the public; therefore anyone can check the transaction history and evaluate a transaction. The disclosed system allows prevention for forging and double spending a bitcoin.

What is a digital assets exchange?

Digital asset exchange such as BitPoint Hong Kong, offers a platform for users to buy and sell digitals assets using fiat money (USD, HKD, JPY, etc).

How many bitcoins are there?

The maximum number of bitcoins that will be available in the world is 21 million bitcoins. However not all bitcoins are mined or circulated yet. Bitcoins are created through a process called mining, which is a process where computers around the world are solving a mathematical problem to be rewarded bitcoins. Bitcoins are still being minted through this process up to 21 million bitcoins.

The smallest unit of bitcoin is 0.00000001 Bitcoin.

Ordering and Trading

What is the maximum order unit for limit order?

It is different according to the asset you would like to trade.
For Bitcoin it is 30 BTC.
For Bitcoin Cash it is 20 BCC.
For Ethereum it is 100 ETH.
For Litcoin it is 500 LTC.
For Ripple it is 30,000XRP.

What is the difference between Spot and Margin trading?

Spot trading uses self-funds to exchange with the asset. Whereas for Margin trading, you can leverage your purchases with borrowed funds, and you will make a profit on the margin earned. Actual bitcoin exchange does not take place. Margin trading can be used to leverage trades and increase profits. However, margin trades are also riskier than sport trades. We therefore advise you to use margin trading carefully.

What is the trading hours?

Digital assets trading is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week except maintenance time of 10min between 15:00 to 15:10 (Hong Kong time).

How can I cancel or change an order placed?

In the trading site, click "Inquiries" from the top menu. Select "Order History", and you will see the list of orders you have placed. You can click on "Correct" or "Cancel" to change or cancel your order.

What is the trading fee?

It is 0.2% on all orders executed. For further details on the fee's please click here.

What is the smallest order unit?

(BTC): 0.0001BTC
(BCH): 0.0001BCH
(ETH): 0.0001ETH
(LTC) : 0.01LTC
(XRP): 0.01XRP

What are the type of orders available?

We offer the following types of orders: Single [Market/Limit], Stop Loss [Market], Streaming [Market/Loss].

Single Order [Market] is a buy/sell order executed based on current market price. It is most convenient when you want to just buy/sell now. The priority is higher on filling the current available orders, therefore there is a possibility that you may not be able to purchase at the desired price upon large market fluctuations.

Single Order [Limit] is a buy/sell order executed based on your designated price. The orders will not fill under your desired price, however if the market price does not meet your designated price, then your placed orders may never fill until the market price reaches your designated price.

Stop Loss [Market] is a buy order executed when it rises above a specific market price or a sell order executed when it falls below a specific price. It is inverse to a Single Limit Order.

Streaming Order [Market] is a buy/sell order where you can execute while viewing the latest buy/sell price with a click. Depending on the market volatility, you may not be able to buy/sell at the exact price.

Streaming Order [Limit] is a buy/sell limit order where you can execute while viewing the latest buy/sell price with a click. Your final purchase will not fall below the designated price.

ADVANCE Trading System

What is ADVANCE Trading System?

BITPointADVANCE is a trading tool that can process orders quickly. A single screen combines chart/board price information, order/contract, position information, order entry functions, etc., and you can complete the transaction without switching screens.

How do I use ADVANCE to trade?

1 Select the spot transaction from the right side of the ADVANCE logo in the upper left corner of the page. Choose the one with the white background on red.
2 Please select the one you want to trade. BTC / JPY, BCH / JPY, ETH / JPY, LTC / JPY, XRP / JPY
3 Please confirm the information from the chart, layout information and place an order on the order page.
4 You can choose one of the order types, such as limit price, market price and stop loss, and then allow the buy/sell price range to be bought/sold.
5 Please enter a value.
6 The price must be specified in the case of the option limit/stop loss order type. The price can be displayed on the order page by clicking on the price information in the layout information.
7 Enter the transaction PIN (4 digits).
8 Click the Buy/Sell button to execute the order.
9 Display the order content confirmation page, confirm and click the execute button.
10 Display the spot transaction order page, which means that the order has been accepted.
11 The executed order displayed at the bottom of the order page, the executed order can be viewed in [ History].
*Because only the part of the day is displayed in the transaction history, please view the transaction records of the day in the transaction history in the transaction URL.

Fiat Deposit & Withdrawal

Any fees for fiat deposit or withdrawal?

No.

How can I make a fiat deposit?

To start trading on our platform, you would have to make a fiat deposit to our designated bank account. Follow the following steps to make your deposit:
1. Login to our trading site. Click on "Transfer" from the top menu and select "Deposit Fiat"
2. You will see the deposit bank information. Make a bank transfer from your bank account to our account. Please note we only accept HKD.
3. Once remittance is complete, send the remittance advice or receipt to deposit@bitpoint.hk. Write your name, your Bitpoint account number, and deposit amount in the email.
4. We will process your deposit within 1-2 working days.
5. Once deposit is complete, you will receive an email to confirm your deposit.

How to make a fiat withdrawal?

Follow the following steps to withdraw fiat:
1. Login to our trading site. Click on "Transfer" from the top menu and select "Withdraw Fiat".
2. Input your bank information.
3. Select whether you want to withdraw a "Specific amount" or "All Amount". If you select "Specific Amount", input the designated amount you would like to withdraw.
4. Click "Confirm".
5. Check the information on the confirmation screen, input your transaction PIN, and click request.
6. Your withdrawal will be processed within 1-2 working days.

Do you accept Cheque? Or Cashier's Cheque?

No. We only accept bank wires.

How can I setup two-step verification for withdrawals?

Click "User Setting" at right upper corner in the top page after login the trading site.
1. "Common" → "Two-Step Verify"
2. Tick in the box of "Withdraw Digital"
3. Select "Mail" or "Google Authenticator"
4. Click "Register" down the screen and select your preferred settings.
After these action, two-step verify is active. When you click "Get No.", verify number is sent to the way you set, "Mail" or "Google Authenticatior". Verify number is sent to you straight away so enter verify number back to the withdraw fiat screen after you confirm verify number to request.

In order to use Google Authenticator ", the following preparation is necessary.

1. Install the Google Authenticator app
2. Activate Google Authenticator authentication from the user setting screen of transaction WEB.
* Login to the trading site and select "Google Authenticator" in "User setting" at the upper right of the screen, Google Authenticator setting screen will be displayed. Please enable Google Authenticator authentication.

Two-step verification has been set for requesting withdrawal of the fiat currency, can I remove it?

Yes, you can remove it. For 2-step verification, it is possible to set for login, withdrawal of statutory currency, remittance of virtual currency, when changing transaction code number, when SmartAPI key is issued, but only [login] and [withdrawal] functions are removable. You can remove 2-step verification by unchecking the type of 2-step authentication [withdrawal] from the user setting in the trading site and clicking the register button at the bottom of the screen.

Digital Asset Deposit & Withdrawal

How to deposit Digital Assets?

Follow the following steps to make Digital Assets deposit:

1Login to our trading site. Click on "Transfer" from the top menu and select "Deposit Digital".
2Select your digital assets, and copy wallet address.
3Paste the wallet address to the external wallet or scan the wallet address QR code and send your digital assets to Bitpoint account.

How do I withdraw digital assets?

Follow the following steps to make Digital Assets withdrawal:

1Login to our trading site. Click on "Transfer" from the top menu and select "Withdraw Digital".
2Select digital asset you would like to withdraw.
3Input the destination address of your external wallet.
4Select the desired currency (Note: The transfer will be made in digital assets)
5Input transaction PIN and click "Confirm"
6Confirm the details of the remittance and click "Execute".

What is the smallest unit accepted for deposit?

For Bitcoin it is up to the 8th decimal place.
For Ethereum it is up to the 8th decimal place.
For Bitcoin Cash it is up to the 8th decimal place.
For Litecoin it is up to the 8th decimal place.
For Ripple coin it is up to the 5th decrimal place.

What is the smallest unit accepted for Digital Assets withdrawal?

For Bitcoin the amount may be specified up to the 8th decimal place as long as it is 0.01BTC or more.
For Bitcoin Cash the amount may be specified up to the 8th decimal place as long as it is 0.02BCC or more.
For Ethereum the amount may be specified up to the 8th decimal place as long as it is 0.1ETH or more.
For Litecoin the amount may be specified up to the 8th decimal place as long as it is 0.1 LTC or more.
For Ripple coin the amount may be specified up to the 5th decimal place as long as it is 10XRP or more.

How to set up transfers(including digital assets) with 2-Step Verification?

The system has defaulted (digital assets) out of 2-Step Verification and cannot be cancelled.
For the current 2-Step Verification notification method, you can confirm it in [User Settings] on the trading website.

To change the notification method, please select the notification method to be changed in "Email Notification" and ""Google Authenticator"" and click the [Save] button at the bottom of the page to complete the change.

2-Step Verification setting for digital asset transfer is enabled. Is it possible to disable it?

No. 2-Step verification can be enabled for Login, Digital Asset Withdrawal, Fiat Withdrawal, and Changing Transaction PIN. However, Digital Asset Withdrawal and Changing Transaction PIN setting cannot be disabled. This is to protect our customer's assets from external threats.

How to confirm the completion of deposits and withdrawals?

Please login in the trading website,click on "Transfer"⇒"Digital Assets"⇒"History". When finished, the status will changes from "in process" to "finished".

Changing Registered Information

How to change your registered name, address and nationality.

Please log in to the trading website and click the Change button in the corresponding item column in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm / Modify Account Information", enter the change information, click "Confirm" to jump to the confirmation page.
Click the "Get Verification Code" button and the verification code will be sent to the registered email address. Please enter the verification code and transaction PIN , and click "Submit".
Once we received your request , we will send the URL for uploading the identity/address file to your registered email address.
Please upload your ID/Address document via the URL, we will send you an email after confirmation and modification.
After that, you can log in the trading website and confirm the information in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm/Modify Account Information".

How to update your registered email address.

Please log in to the trading website and click "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm / Modify Account Information", click in"email address". enter the new email address,and click "Confirm" to jump to the confirmation page.
Click the "Get Verification Code" button and the verification code will be sent to the registered email address. Please enter the verification code and transaction PIN , and click "Submit".

We will send you an email after confirming and modifying the email address.
After that, you can log in the trading website and confirm the information in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm/Modify Account Information".

Please keep in mind when updating your email address.

1 Cannot be the same email address as other customers (including family members and company ).
2 E-mail address is the login ID of the trading website. Please note that the login ID will change due to email changes.

How to update your registered telephone and mobile number.

Please log in to the trading website and click "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm / Modify Account Information", click in"Fixed/mobile number". enter the new number,and click "Confirm" to jump to the confirmation page.
Click the "Get Verification Code" button and the verification code will be sent to the registered email address. Please enter the verification code and transaction PIN , and click "Submit".

We will send you an email after confirming and modifying the email address.
After that, you can log in the trading website and confirm the information in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm/Modify Account Information".

Please keep in mind when updating your telephone number.

Cannot be the same phone number as other customers (including family members and company ).

How to change registration information with regards to occupation, annual income and source of funds.

Please log in to the trading website and click the Change button in the corresponding item column in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm / Modify Account Information", enter the change information, click "Confirm" to jump to the confirmation page.
Click the "Get Verification Code" button and the verification code will be sent to the registered email address. Please enter the verification code and transaction PIN , and click "Submit".
Once we received your request , we will send the URL for uploading the identity/address file to your registered email address.
Please upload your ID/Address document via the URL, we will send you an email after confirmation and modification.
After that, you can log in the trading website and confirm the information in "Account Management" ⇒ "Account Information" ⇒ "Confirm/Modify Account Information".

Security

What is the 2-Step Verification?

2-Step Verification is a countermeasure for our company to enhance safety. At the time of login, the account, password confirmation, password reset request, digital asset transaction, digital asset transfer, legal currency withdrawal, transaction password change, registration information change, you need to enter the transaction password, and then the 2-Step Verification - it can further improve the security.
You can select the 2-Step Verification when setting login, legal currency withdrawal, digital asset transfer, transaction password change, and select email notification or "Google Authenticator" as the receiving verification code in [User Settings] on the trading website. method to informe.
*The initial setting of the secondary verification is [Login OFF], [Digital asset transfers ON], [Withdrawals OFF], [Transaction PIN ON] The 2-Step Verification of the login and withdrawal can be set/cancelled in the user settings, but the digital asset transfer and the change of the transaction PIN cannot cancel the secondary verification, which is to protect the security of the users' assets.

If you use the notification method of Google Authenticator, the preparation is as follows.
1. Install the Google Authenticator app
2. Activate "Google Authenticator" from the user settings page of the trading website.
※To log in to the trading website, select "Google Authenticator" in the "User Settings" in the upper right corner of the page, and the activation page of "Google Authenticator" will be displayed. Please activate "Google Authenticator" from it.

What is customer notification?

To enhance our security measure against unauthorized login, we have integrated a function that sends notification to the customer's registered address when Fiat Withdrawal, Account Login, and Digital Asset Transfer is detected.
If you notice anything odd about your account (i.e. unknown login, withdrawal and transfer), a third-party might have gained unauthorized access. If this is the case, please be sure to reset your password in the trading site or contact our customer support immediately.
